OVERVIEW
KidSpeak 10-in-1 Language Learning software is a three CD-ROM software program designed to give your child a head start learning a foreign language. The languages included with this program are French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, and Hebrew.
This
course is an immersion language learning program. No English is spoken in any
of the segments and only the native language is used. The programs for each
of the ten languages are functionally equivalent, so once your child masters
one language they will have little problem figuring out what to do in a different
section. Each section contains a number of activities to encourage basic language
skills.
Every language in the course is hosted by a cartoon friend that leads the child through the material. These friends have animated pets that take part in some of the skits. Within each section the categories of activities are grouped. Some of these groups include math skills, vocabulary building, and music. The user interface is an easy point and click style that even a two year old understands. The programs use simple games as an instructional tool to reinforce the chapter contents.
STRONG POINTS
Reliable operation - We have never encountered a program error or exception with operating any of the modules.
Fun - The program is used over and over again to play the games and to listen to the multitude of songs.
Variety - The child can change to the different languages as desired when boredom sets in.
Simple to Understand - Even the youngest computer genius can operate the simple user interface.
WEAK POINTS
Subject Material - The course is targeted to younger children, so those approaching their teens may find the subject material babyish, although they generally enjoy playing the games.
COMMENTS
This is a great program to give your child a start in understanding a foreign language. The user interface is easy and the games are enough fun that children return to play repeatedly.
