Two criminal investigations collide
in this murder drama set in a remote mountainous area of France. This is a DVD
feature in French with English dubbing and subtitles available.
France's top serial killing investigator is called in when the body of a young
college man is found grotesquely mutilated. The detective's sharp eyes soon
see the clues that lead him to discover the next victim, then a long series
of victims, some of which were at first his main suspects.
Meanwhile, another detective is called in to investigate a night of vandalism
in his village, at first seemingly a series of pranks. The more he looks into
the escapades, the wider and stranger the investigation becomes. Soon, his world
collides with the murder investigation, and the two detectives must forge a
bond of cooperation to solve the vicious series of crimes.
This movie definitely has a continental feel about it, with a strange plot
in many ways similar to The Boys From Brazil. The ending caught me totally by
surprise, even with the clues this mystery delivered. This is another movie
that deserves its R rating with graphic portrayals of violence and death, making
it inappropriate for children and young teens.
