A language course for those  of us who are compelled to spend our waking hours glued to a television set with the remote clutched tightly in our hands -- that is the best description  for this edition of the Standard Deviants education video series.

Shop for this video at Amazon.comThis Standard Deviants program presents the most basic concepts of the French language in an enjoyable and relaxing format. Some of  the topics in this video include the French alphabet, pronunciation, basic greetings, numbers, family, and expressing likes and dislikes. The actors are all youthful,  appearing to be in their early twenties, and a large number of actors are used. Some of them act out scenes showing how French is used, while others help with  the presentation of the vocabulary and pronunciation. The program format is quick paced, but does not seem rushed as each topic is covered in a thorough  fashion.

While it is obviously not possible to cover all aspects of the language in a short period of time, the most important basics are shown and examples are acted out. The photography, video quality,  and sound quality are all excellent and the actors appear lively and interested in what they are doing. This program is a great refresher for students with  rusty skills or useful as an introduction to the French language without a lot  of painful grammar rules and repetitive speaking exercises.

This program provides an alternative format for developing basic French conversational skills and is priced attractively to be affordable to those on a small budget.
