French: Pimsleur Basic is a language course on audio tape designed for the student to learn to speak French. The program is packaged in a compact box case and consists of four cassette tapes.
This is an all audio course; there is no manual or workbook. Each side of a cassette tape is a complete lesson. The lessons begin with very basic French such as good morning, how are you, what is your name, and more, then move on to more difficult dialog. At the beginning of each lesson, a conversation is presented. Then it is broken down one item at a time.
The key to remembering a language is to use it, and with this language course you respond frequently to French language dialogs presented by the narrator. Although progress with this course is slow, ½ hour per day, the material becomes well learned and easy to remember.
This language course is part of a complete series of French language instruction by Pimsleur. It is designed so the student will learn the basics of the French language. The audio quality on the cassette tapes is good and the speakers are lively and entertaining. It is necessary to purchase additional modules in this series to become proficient in speaking French.
